The world of motorcycles is full of iconic names and brands, but arguably none have quite the punch of Harley-Davidson — at least, here in the U.S. For more than a century, the bikemaker has largely defined American motorcycle culture with its burly cruisers and other open-road-crushing machines.
And while the times have indeed started to change — the last few years have seen H-D serve up its first electric motorcycle, its first ADV and a new line of e-bikes — it isn't giving up on the rides that made it famous. For 2021, the brand is rolling out an all-new version of the Sportster; to find out what it's like, we headed out west to take it for a test ride.

What is it?
The Harley-Davidson Sportster S is a category-eluding motorcycle. The "-ster" part of the equation goes back to 1957, when the first Sportster debuted. Long and low was the principle then, as was a V-twin engine, and this entirely new Sportster is still a V-twin, and still sleek and low, but absolutely nothing is the same. Harley-Davidson says it's revolutionary, and that's not marketing hype in the slightest.
Is the Harley-Davidson Sportster S new?
Entirely. The only thing in common with the outgoing Sportster is the name. You can sign up to order yours now, and it should be hitting dealers shortly.
What makes this Harley-Davidson special?
Darn near everything, but I'll start with the guts. This 1,250cc twin is a similar powertrain to what's in the Pan America, but whereas that bike churns out 150 horsepower, the Revolution Max T for the Sportster "only" produces 121 hp. Um, that's plenty, trust me. Because rather than the flatter torque curve of the Pan-Am, here Harley's emphasized take-off. So what you lose in total propulsion, you gain in a bike that wants to fire off the line, all the way to its 9,500 rpm redline.
Also, this a thoroughly modern power plant, with variable valve timing that enables really smooth and easy revving, whether you're being lazy and not downshifting from fourth to third gear at 40 mph and just grabbing more throttle, or shifting aggressively and keeping it boiling, it'll freight-train you forward from just above 2,000 rpm. The sweet spot hits around 3,500 rpm, where power feels black-hole deep — but you also get excellent engine braking from the high-compression V-twin.

Harley has a storied history in its engines, but "thumpers" can be exhausting and overly loud. How to preserve the legend while not letting it anchor you to your past? One way was to make certain this bike still makes noise, and it does, but the Revolution Max T's anthem isn't the tympanic brain-bruising blare of yore. It's a pleasant, guttural churn that's ballsy, but a bit less look-at-me showy. (Unless you go WOT and really want to rattle the neighbor's windows at 2am.) In developing the Revolution Max T, engineers made certain to move the air box forward in the chassis, so when the engine's chugging air you don't hear it; you only get the pleasing roar of the twin-piped exhaust.
One last point on the engine — that's not just about the engine. See, this bike is rider-tunable; while you wouldn't default to think of a Harley like you think of a tech-laden BMW, that's finally starting to shift. The Sportster S engine has multiple power modes that you can select via a four-way pad controller on the handlebar. You see those reflected in an entirely digital color TFT display that, oh by the way, can also pair to your phone, for turn-by-turn directions via the HD app, or to play music to Bluetooth-enabled earbuds or an in-helmet system like a Cardo or Sena. Apps? Bluetooth? Ride modes? Son, this isn't the leather-vest Harley-Davidson your cool bad-seed uncle rode.

And I mean that in a good way. Even though, for instance, there's absurd torque, Harley's included a swell suite of safety tech, too, including both systems to prevent you from wheelie-ing when maybe you didn't plan on that, to measuring available cornering grip and either cutting throttle or adding ABS, or both, all to ensure that you stay on your intended line.
How all this translates to riding, I'll get to a moment, but in the pre-set engine modes this ranges from immediate throttle tip-in for Sport (as in, cattle-prodded-pit-bull); to Road, which offers a great balance of predictability with easy roll-on throttle; as well as Rain, where you really want the heavy hand of coddling to keep your Harley upright. And there are two custom modes, should you want a mixture of more power but perhaps greater traction control, say.
How does the Sportster S ride?
For this test ride, we bombed out of central L.A. and wound our way up Angeles Crest. This is the go-to for fast-car or fast-bike owners who want to get out the grind of SoCal traffic and test their machines — and with turn after stacked-loop switchback, it would be a tough proving ground for a lesser bike than the Sportster S.

I wasn't on a lesser bike, though; I was on a new-school Harley with a maximum lean angle of 34 degrees, a stiff Showa inverted fork that delivers exceptionally linear steering feel, and massive, Dunlop-developed tires (160/70TR17 73V front; 180/70R16 77V rear). Oh, and even though it looks insanely long, the 59.8-inch wheelbase tells you something else. Combine that shorter footprint than you expect and a seat height of only 29.6 inches, and the Sportster S is very nimble when the going gets delicate, and yet seems to elongate as you quicken the pace. It's grippy when you need it to be, and friendly to the point of a bit nutty when you start to crack your wrist and go hell bent. It's not a crotch rocket, but it may be the sportiest, most confidence-inspiring Harley in decades.
But here's the uncanny part: Back off the gas and tool along and your face will be stuck on a CBD-like perma-grin, because that engine is tuned to allow super-kitten-friendly puttering, too. It won't snarl; and the handling is so placid and predictable you could grocery-fetch daily on the Sportster S and be head-cleared and jolly, without ever asking this Harley to roar.
Anything else stand out?
Yes, two cons — and one big pro.
First con: This one is fixable, but the Sportster S has a default of forward controls, with your feet stretched out. Because there's only two inches of rear-wheel travel, what you want to make the potholes go down easier is the ability to stand up to absorb the pavement biting back.
Luckily, Harley is going to sell a mid-controls option. After testing both versions...get the mid setup. It puts you in a far more athletic position for riding the twisties, and that just gives you better confidence for anything sketchy you might need to react to as well.

Second con: The up-sweeping exhaust pipes are a nod to some Harley flat track racing history — and no doubt, they define the vibe of this bike. But they also direct a ton of heat right where you don't want it, on the inside of your right leg.
Yep, these pipes are shielded, but if you're noodling from stoplight to stoplight in 90-degree heat, you're going to feel that hibachi scorch. It's not a dealbreaker, but my guess is Harley's going to offer some mods to overcome those meat-singe challenges.
One big pro: It's almost impossible to overstate the significance of this bike for Harley-Davidson. Yes, the Pan America opens up a new space for the brand, but as vice-president of styling and design Brad Richards said, "We're really looking for white spaces with Sportster."
What that means: they're going to riff well beyond Sportster. The engine can be scaled down in displacement, and the chassis is excellent; it's stiff, and delivers gobs of agility. You can imagine a more upright position with some more suspension travel, to chase the smaller ADV category; you can imagine attacking the Ducati Scrambler. Basically, if you can dream of where Harley goes from here, with this modifiable engine and excellent chassis design, you can bet they've already got plans. And that's great news if you're a fan of awesome motorcycles made in the USA.
Ferrari 812 Superfast Review: Turbocharging Be Damned
When Ferrari includes the word 'Superfast' in the name of a new model, expectations are high, so it comes as no surprise that the Ferrari 812 Superfast is a magnificent super GT. It takes over from the F12berlinetta and immediately demands attention by way of a 6.5-liter V12 that is one of the most powerful naturally aspirated engines ever conceived. It produces a mindblowing 789 horsepower (that's 121 hp/liter), dwarfing the torque output of 530 lb-ft and serving as a clear sign that it has an appetite for high revs. It's an astonishingly fast GT, hitting 62 mph in a mere 2.9 seconds and capable of a top speed of 211 mph. The front-engined, rear-wheel-drive, two-seat layout harks back to the 599 GTB, and provides the supercar with true GT practicality. It's far from a softie, though, with ultra-sharp steering and uncanny handling for what is quite a heavy machine. There are other tantalizing offerings in the USA to consider at over $300,000, such as the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, but the 812's phenomenal V12 - and perhaps the world's most lusted after badge - make Ferrari's GT close to unbeatable.

2021 Ferrari 812 Superfast Changes: 🚙What's New?
Taking over from the F12berlinetta, the 812 Superfast has a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine (up from the F12berlinetta's 6.3L V12) producing 789 horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque - that's more power than both the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera and the McLaren 720S can manage. The 812 Superfast is also the first Ferrari to employ electric power steering, and it ships with an updated version of the brand's Side Slip Control (SSC) system. Braking performance, too, is better, with a 5.8-percent improvement when stopping from 62 mph compared with the F12berlinetta, thanks to the use of Brembo Extreme Design brakes. A 30-percent increase in downforce is notable with the Superfast's brace of aerodynamic tweaks.

There are no changes to speak of for the 2019 812 Superfast and it is essentially a carryover of the 2018 model, however the big news is the arrival of the 812 GTS drop-top, which we look at on it's own.
2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast
The Ferrari 812 Superfast launches in the US in 2017 as a 2018 model and takes over where its predecessor, the F12berlinetta, left off as the company's flagship V12 coupe. The old car's 730-hp/509-lb-ft 6.3-liter V12 engine is enlarged to 6.5 liters and now develops 789 hp at a screaming 8,500 rpm and 530 lb-ft of torque, which makes the engine the most powerful naturally aspirated production engine at the time. The V12 is able to launch the car to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds with the help of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The top speed is a claimed 211 mph.
Specs and Trims: Ferrari 812 Superfast models and configurations
The engine may have moved to the front, but that doesn't mean that the 812 Superfast is anything less than another thrilling Ferrari. It gets one of the best engines ever made in the 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12, which generates a massive 789 hp. Mated with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the 812 will accelerate to 62 mph in only 2.9 seconds. Stunningly designed, the GT gets 20-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, and quad exhaust outlets. Ferrari 812 Superfast Full Specs
The standalone 812 Superfast is a Ferrari that doesn't make any compromises, with a comfortable cabin for two and a trunk with enough space for a weekend away. The multi-function steering wheel features controls for the various driving modes. The central tachometer is flanked by digital screens on each side, through which features like Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and navigation can be managed. Another digital screen can be equipped ahead of the passenger. Dual-zone climate control keeps both occupants comfortable, while a bumpy road setting softens up the suspension when encountering rougher surfaces.
812 Superfast Exterior
The long hood is typical of a front-engined, rear-wheel-drive GT, but the 812 Superfast is still instantly recognizable as a Ferrari. The tall tail is a throwback to the 365 GTB4 (Daytona) of 1969, and while the sleek front-end isn't massively different from the F12berlinetta, it's still striking with stretched LED headlights and gorgeously sculpted air intakes on the hood. The 812 Superfast is about two inches shorter than the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera but is otherwise similar in size to its British rival. The Ferrari is 183.3 inches long, with a width of 77.6 inches, and a height of 50.2 inches. The wheelbase length works out to 107.1 inches. The curb weight works out to 3,594 pounds, which is around 400 lbs lighter than the DBS. These dimensions lend themselves to creating an aerodynamic car that sits low without being heavy.

Exterior Colors
A choice of over 25 colors can be specified when ordering the 812 Superfast, although we imagine that many buyers would struggle to resist opting for one of the reds, Ferrari's signature shade. Rosso Corsa is a more traditional red, while Rosso Mugello is a moody, darker red. One special color, Rosso 70 Anni, was created to celebrate the brand's 70th anniversary in 2017. Not everyone is obsessed with red Ferraris, of course, so for them, there is Giallo Modena (yellow), Rosso Scuderia (orange), Nero (black), and metallics like Grigio Alloy, Grigio Titanio Metall, and Blu Tour De France.

812 Superfast Performance
Capable of spinning up to 9,000 rpm, few - if any - engines can hope to compete with the charisma and power of Ferrari's 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12. The monstrous outputs are 789 horsepower (at 8,500 rpm) and 530 lb-ft of torque, and it's all fed to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The pace is searing, with 0 to 62 mph coming up in 2.9 seconds and 0-124 mph taking just 7.9. Passing power is brutal; even in sixth, 130 to 150 mph takes only around 3.5 seconds, based on independent tests. It'll continue hauling all the way up to its top speed of 211 mph. It's quicker than the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, but just a smidge behind the McLaren 720S. Neither of those cars, impressive as they are, can match the experience of pushing the Ferrari's V12 to its limits, though.
Engine and Transmission
Ferrari claims that the 812 Superfast is a benchmark for mid-front-engined sports cars, and we're not about to argue with that. The 789 hp and 530 lb-ft generated by the 6.5-liter V12 monster makes for an unbelievable specific power output of 121 hp/liter. The motor is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that has been tuned for shorter shift times and to maximize throttle response.
The never-ending rev band is the envy of every turbocharged engine on the planet. Even at under 3,000 rpm, the V12 is already motivating the Superfast along at a rapid rate, but words fail to describe what happens as the needle rises, the volume escalates, and the speed increases - dramatically so. Deliciously sharp throttle response is the order of the day, with an immediate surge forward that requires plenty of restraint on regular roads. The gearbox works through its ratios speedily, and the large paddles are well-sited for when you want to do the shifting yourself. The wondrous engine steals the show, though. Superfast? You bet.

Handling and Driving Impressions
Although it is touted as a grand tourer, the 812 Superfast ultimately ends up being much more Ferrari than Bentley in the way it drives. So, let's get the negatives out of the way, then. At a high-speed cruise, you notice plenty of tire roar, and the engine is a constant presence, even if it does quieten down to an extent when cruising. When the 'bumpy roads' drive mode is dialed up, it rides with reasonable composure, but it's just never as isolating as a true GT is expected to be. For the more hardcore enthusiasts, these aspects won't be a problem at all, because the 812 Superfast's frenetic character is a gift to those who like to take their cars by the scruff of the neck. The electric power steering is, for lack of a better term, super fast - it makes many other sports cars feel languid and can elicit some eye-widening moments for drivers unaccustomed to its ways. Inducing oversteer is almost too easy, which can be a frightening experience on public roads. At its worst, the Superfast never truly allows you to relax, but at best, the car's impeccable balance and agility prove to be an unending source of joy for braver drivers. These traits, coupled with the majestic V12, make for a truly memorable drive - stick it in Race mode and hold on.

6.5 liters and 12 cylinders contribute to the 812 Superfast's ability to take huge gulps of premium gasoline, with EPA-rated figures of 12/16/13 mpg on the city/highway/combined cycles. Fortunately, it has a large 24.3-gallon gas tank, so will manage a combined cruising range of around 315 miles. According to the EPA, Superfast drivers will spend over $9,000 more in fuel costs over a five-year period relative to the average new vehicle.

The grand tourer positioning becomes more evident in the cabin, where the Ferrari 812 Superfast suffers no great compromises that typically affect exotics. Both the driver and passenger have sufficient space, the ergonomics are sensible, and the materials all feel of good quality. The steering wheel, as in other Ferraris, is chock-full of buttons, even including a tiny wheel with which to adjust the windshield wipers. There is no central infotainment screen, but on each side of the analog tachometer, small screens display vital information. Although an available screen can be equipped ahead of the passenger, it's clear that the driver is the priority in the racy cabin. Standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a garage door opener, and LED exterior lighting. Four airbags and front/rear parking sensors are inclusive safety features.

Seating and Interior Space
Seating just the driver and one passenger, the front-engined layout of the 812 Superfast provides good cabin space, with sufficient leg- and headroom, and there are no great qualms with ingress/egress either. Without the severely slanted rear window of mid-engined Ferraris like the F8 Tributo, it's also easier to see out of the back of the 812 Superfast.

There is a range of available seating options, with leather in colors like Tortora, Charcoal, Bordeaux, or Sabbia (a light cream), or Daytona seats with different stitching. Diamond pattern-style stitching is another option, adding a more luxurious feel, while on the other end of the spectrum, buyers can opt for monocoque carbon racing seats. We'd advise you to test out a few seating options beforehand, as the racing seats can prove uncomfortable over extended trips. An available carbon interior upgrade adds the racy material to the steering wheel, the air vent surrounds, and the door panels - it looks fantastic.
812 Superfast Trunk and Cargo Space
Pop open the hatchback-like rear lid, and it reveals a narrow trunk that is big enough for a large suitcase or two or three carry-ons. For daily needs, it should suffice. However, one has to contend with a particularly high load lip, so it isn't easy to hoist heavier items in there.
In the cabin, there are narrow door pockets and a single cupholder is sited ahead of the center armrest. The center console storage compartment is small, and a large smartphone will take up much of the space in there. And finally, to make use of the glovebox, you'll have to place the bulky owner's manual elsewhere. Overall, then, the 812 Superfast provides only minimal space to stash small items.
812 Superfast Infotainment and Features
Features
Better equipped than the average Ferrari, the 812 Superfast comes with dual-zone climate control, a rearview camera, push-button ignition, gear shift paddles for the dual-clutch transmission, and dual digital displays on either side of the central tachometer. Convenience items like power-folding side mirrors and keyless entry make this Ferrari more of a pleasure to live with for daily driving. Although there is no central infotainment screen, a passenger-side screen can be equipped above the glovebox. Safety features include four airbags, traction control, electronic stability control, and front/rear parking sensors.
Infotainment
Ferrari bucks convention by doing away with a typical central infotainment screen. Instead, two smaller screens are positioned on either side of the tachometer. The screen on the left can be controlled with a small physical knob below the far left air vent and provides access to data like speed, engine temperature, and battery voltage. The screen on the right, though, has its own dial on the right and provides access to the navigation system, media, phone, and radio. It's an unusual setup, but it works fairly intuitively. As standard, you get a six-speaker audio system (a 12-speaker hi-fi is available), Bluetooth connectivity, speech-to-text functionality, and an internal hard drive. Apple users will appreciate the availability of Apple CarPlay, but Android Auto isn't offered at all. On the passenger side, a dedicated screen can be equipped just above the glove compartment, providing access to information like the music that's playing or the current speed.
812 Superfast Problems and Reliability
In 2019, the Ferrari 812 Superfast was recalled by the NHTSA for an issue where the fuel vapor separator could crack and leak fuel, potentially causing a fire, as well as an incorrectly bonded rear window; the latter issue carried over to the 2020 model and both of these issues also affected 2018 models. Other than this, there are no serious issues to report, so while there are no official reviews to back it up, reliability is not really a concern.
Ferrari's basic warranty runs for three years with unlimited miles and includes coverage for the powertrain. Notably, complimentary scheduled maintenance is covered for seven years, regardless of miles covered.

812 Superfast Safety
Ferrari fans can breathe a collective sigh of relief: both the IIHS and the NHTSA have yet to destroy a glossy 812 Superfast. On the downside, that means that there is no official safety review of the Ferrari 812 Superfast, and therefore no rating to report on.
Key Safety Features
The Ferrari Superfast gets four airbags, traction/electronic stability control systems, and tire pressure monitoring. Front/rear cameras and front/rear parking sensors prevent unnecessary dings by increasing driver awareness and cruise control is useful for longer jaunts, but Ferrari hasn't bothered with more advanced driver-assist tech like blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert.
Verdict: 🏁Is the Ferrari 812 Superfast a Good Car?
The Ferrari 812 Superfast has such a legendary engine that even if the rest of the car was a flop, we'd still find ourselves utterly besotted with it. The V12's talents can't be overemphasized: 789 horsepower, remarkable tractability, and an awe-inspiring soundtrack. It's especially satisfying, then, that there's a lot more to the 812 Superfast than its engine. While not relaxing like a traditional grand tourer, its razor-sharp steering and stunning body control will keep enthusiasts entertained for hours. It's got enough space inside for two, a sensibly designed cockpit with high-quality materials, and a usable trunk. And of course, it looks fantastic. Customers anticipating a quiet, refined cruiser may be disappointed with the hyper 812 Superfast, but if that's the kind of car that you're after, there are better-suited options in 2020, like the Bentley Continental GT. And, as brilliant as rivals from Aston Martin and McLaren are, they'd have a hard time tempting us away from this Ferrari.
🚘What's the Price of Ferrari 812 Superfast?
With pricing starting at around the $350,000 mark, you won't see too many Ferrari 812 Superfast GTs on the road. Ferrari isn't shy about charging exorbitant amounts for options, either, so a fully-loaded Ferrari 812 Superfast can cost in excess of $400,000. The base price excludes tax, licensing, and registration costs. Since these are MSRP prices, customers will also have to cough up a gas-guzzler tax, along with a destination charge of $3,750. The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is cheaper at $304,995, although at this price level, the difference is negligible and the pricey optional extras can greatly change these figures anyway.
Additional Packages
Ferrari offers few packages for the 812 Superfast. Instead, buyers can choose from several standalone options to customize the specs of their purchase, although many of these are cosmetic. There are eight wheel designs to choose from, along with five colors for the brake calipers. Both the exterior and interior can be equipped with carbon fiber components. Ferrari also offers multiple seat designs, from the standard seats to Daytona racing carbon seats. Further options include an upgraded audio system, a passenger-side digital display, and power-adjustable seats.

The 2020 Ferrari 812 Superfast is a standalone model (if you ignore the 812 GTS drop-top). However, as there are a number of options for customizing the exterior and interior, customers are unlikely to end up with the same end product as someone else. We'd have ours in red and throw in the electric seats, as this is supposed to be a grand tourer, after all. The carbon-fiber interior trim looks fantastic, so we'd tick that box as well.

2021 Ferrari 812 Superfast vs McLaren 720S
The Ferrari's front-engined layout and GT aspirations contrast with the McLaren's twin-turbo V8, which is positioned behind the driver. The 720S produces 710 horsepower from its 4.0L mill, which is more than just about everything else besides the Superfast's 789-hp V12. Despite the 720S being over 450 lbs lighter, the Ferrari's extra power sees both cars reaching 62 mph in an identical 2.9 seconds. 2021 Ferrari 812 Superfast vs Aston Martin DBS
The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, like the Ferrari, is a GT that doesn't always feel like a GT. Both of these cars have too much attitude and testosterone running through their veins to truly pamper occupants as a Bentley GT Continental would, or even a Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. Both the DBS and the 812 use mighty V12 engines, but the Aston features twin-turbocharging and the Ferrari relies on natural aspiration. Blighted by less power and more weight, the Aston can't keep up with the 812 in a straight line, although it's still one of the most potent performance coupes around. Both GTs do well to conceal their size with quick steering and entertaining RWD reactions, and they'll cruise in fair comfort in the right driving mode. The 812 has a racier cabin, but the Aston comes across as more debonair from behind the wheel. And, although the Ferrari has a larger trunk, the DBS has small rear seats for emergencies or for packing extra items. These two grand tourers are surprisingly closely matched, but by a whisker, we'd opt for the Ferrari.

Like many other truck makers, Chevrolet is in attendance at the State Fair of Texas, and the Bowtie debuts 2020 Silverado Midnight and Rally special editions in the Lone Star State. Both models outfit the pickups with a mix of trim to make them look customized straight from the showroom.

The Silverado Midnight Edition gets a two-inch suspension lift and the features from the Z71 Off-Road Package, including Rancho mono-tube shocks, automatic locking rear differential, skid plates, and 18-inch black-painted wheels with Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires. It also has a much darker appearance than usual due to black pieces for the grille, bumpers, exhaust tips, side steps, and badges. Red tow hooks add a little flourish of color to the exterior.

The Midnight Edition is available on the LT Trail Boss and Custom Trail Boss trims. The LT Trail Boss version comes with a 6.2-liter V8 making 420 horsepower (313 kilowatts) and 460 pound-feet (624 Newton-meters) of torque and hooks up to a 10-speed automatic. The Custom Trail Boss is available with this powertrain or a 5.3-liter V8 and six-speed automatic.

If you prefer a somewhat more colorful truck then check out the Silverado Rally Edition that's available in Black, Red Hot, Silver Ice Metallic, and Summit White exterior colors. Offer Personality on and off the Road
DALLAS – Chevrolet's most popular special editions, Midnight and Rally, are back with the new 2020 Silverado 1500. Revealed today at the State Fair or Texas, these special editions are another way Chevrolet is offering the perfect truck for every customer, regardless of need.
"Customer choice is a competitive advantage for Chevrolet, because no two truck drivers are alike," said Mark Sobczynski, Silverado marketing manager. "Whether it's the sinister Midnight Edition or a sporty Rally Edition – special editions offer our customers a custom look direct from the factory that fits their unique personality."
The new 2020 Silverado Midnight and Rally Editions will be available for order next month and will arrive at dealerships later this year.
"Whether at auto shows, local car shows or on the road, people turn their heads when they see our special edition trucks," said Sobczynski. "Our dealers often put these special editions at the front of their lot because they attract people into the store and draw attention to the entire truck lineup."
Off-Road Focused Midnight Edition
The Silverado Midnight Edition is offered on the LT Trail Boss and Custom Trail Boss trims, including a 2-inch factory suspension lift and the Z71 Off Road Package with Rancho® mono-tube off-road shocks, an automatic locking rear differential, skid plates, 18-inch black painted wheels and Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires.
The Midnight Edition adds to Trail Boss' look, but with an all-black approach: black Silverado badging, black grille, black Bowties, black bumpers, black exhaust tips and black off-road assist steps. The all-black appearance is accented by red recovery hooks.
The Custom Trail Boss Midnight Edition is available with either a 5.3L V-8 engine with six-speed automatic transmission or 6.2L V-8 engine with 10-speed automatic transmission. The LT Trail Boss Midnight Edition comes exclusively with 6.2L V-8 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission with 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. The LT Trail Boss Midnight Edition also gets unique High-Intensity LED headlamps with dark bezels and full-curtain signature daytime running lamps.
Street-Focused Rally Edition
The Silverado Rally Edition is offered on the Custom and RST trims and features a sporty look, available in Black, Red Hot, Silver Ice Metallic or Summit White exterior paint. Believe it or not, it's been nearly two decades since we saw this icon coming out from the factory lines for the last time. For a full 19 years, we are hearing rumors about the comeback of this drift legend and it looks like something is finally happening. If we can trust the latest reports, the Japanese manufacturer is actually working on the new generation, which should expand the company's offer of performance cars, which is currently based on just two models, GT-R and Z Car. This one would come as a more affordable option, like something that is built for an average speed lover. We presume it would come as the 2022 Nissan Silvia S16.
At this point, it's hard to talk about specifics but we can definitely predict some of the base design characteristics of the new model. We presume that the base approach would be the same as in the previous generation, which means a light RWD sports car that is fast, reliable and can drift as hell. Once again, the officials are still quiet about this, so take the following paragraphs with a big reserve.
2022 Nissan Silvia S16 Redesign
Considering that the last generation we saw was codenamed S15, the new model would come as the 2022 Nissan Silvia S16. Given the 19-year gap, there is no doubt that there won't be many things in common between the new model and its predecessor. Allegedly, Nissan is working on a brand-new platform, which will debut in this model and later be used for a variety of Infiniti models.
One of the things that are certain is the base layout. Despite the age gap, the new model will continue with the same approach, which includes an engine mounted at the front, and rear-wheel drive. That's a perfect combination for drifting, while another necessary component is lightweight. Therefore, we expect that the 2022 Nissan Silvia S16 would utilize a lot of lightweight materials, primarily aluminum and carbon fiber.
Exterior
When it comes to the exterior design, we don't expect surprises. We expect to see a familiar layout, which would mean a typical 2-door coupe body style. A convertible is possible as well. Also, we don't expect that the 2022 Nissan Silvia S16 could be much bigger than the previous generations. Therefore, the wheelbase should go around 100 inches.
When it comes to styling, the 2022 Nissan Silvia S16 would come based on Nissan's latest design language. Of course, this includes the famous V-Motion grille but in a sportier iteration this time. Of course, there is plenty of room for exclusive details, starting from the body kit, wheels, massive brakes and similar things. Also, the "Silvia" badges and logos are expected in various areas of the vehicle.
Interior
This aspect is still a complete mystery. Aside from the two-seat configuration, we know nothing about the comeback model. Still, we presume that the dashboard would take a lot of inspiration from other sports cars from this manufacturer, particularly from the Nissan GT-R. Still, keep in mind that the legendary supercar is pretty old and that its cabin isn't the freshest one on the market. Therefore, we count on loads of brand-new design solutions as well.
The new model should come with two seats, as we mentioned. We count on both coupe and convertible body styles in the offer. Besides attractive dashboard design, we expect from this model to come with lots o standard and available equipment as well. This refers not just to advanced tech goodies and the latest driver-assistance features, but also to lots of convenience features.
2022 Nissan Silvia S16 Engine
Once again, we expect that the new model will respect its tradition. Therefore, a four-cylinder engine mounted at the front is what we count on, along with the rear-wheel drive. However, we are pretty sure that the new 2022 Nissan Silvia S16 will have to go turbo. So, our pick would be a 2.0-liter turbo-four with variable compression, which would be specially tuned on this occasion. Something like 300 horsepower sounds reasonable enough.
The engine should be quite potent and we also believe that the Japanese manufacturer will think of real driving enthusiasts and the manual transmission will certainly be in the offer. Of course, an automatic gearbox should be offered too. Naturally, power will be sent to rear wheels and we don't expect to see AWD in the offer.
2022 Nissan Silvia S16 Release Date and Price
As we already mentioned, the 2022 Nissan Silvia S16 is just a rumor for now. The officials are still quiet, so the actual chances to see this model are minimal, especially if we consider that today's market is mostly about crossovers and that the demand for genuine sports cars isn't particularly big. Therefore, we won't come up with estimations in terms of price and launch date. Once again, take this article with a big reserve.

I'm on my fourth torque converter and still jerks sometimes and seems to be worse in cooler weather. Would never recommend the 2017 Silverado 5.3.
It has a button that evens the motor so that you can tow large items like campers and trailers easily.

Power steering went out at 8000 miles while driving in a mall parking lot. Took forever to get fixed. It has always had throttle issues. Push down, no go, then lurch 3 feet when it does. Going down the road jerking along. Will not go into v4 going down any incline. Jumps v8 to v4 all the time and is not smooth.
It rides smooth and there is a backup camera to help with visibility.

Acceleration issues when driving.
Not enough power when starting from a stop. And when driving it take a couple of seconds to accelerate when hitting it when your at highway speed. Other than the acceleration issues do not see any other issues except the wireless network always pops up asking to confirm with the message do not take your eyes off the road.

The LT trim comes with audio and phone controls on the steering wheel as well as a 4.2-inch driver display in the gauge cluster. While the driver information screen is not touch-sensitive, it can be operated by the controls on the steering wheel.
The LT features a chrome grille with a mesh black insert and color-matched door handles, mirror covers, and side trim. It is also fitted with an EZ-lower tailgate, which allows the tailgate to come down slowly.
This trim is a good middle ground for the 2017 Chevy Silverado, because it has more modern technology while maintaining a lower price than most of the other trims. In terms of handling, the 2017 Silverado is about as good as you can expect from an enormous full-size pickup truck. It's not great, but options like the Z71 off-road package and performance-handling pack can improve the Silverado's cumbersome handling.

While the NHTSA found the Silverado to be safe, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) noted a potential safety flaw. In terms of crash avoidance and mitigation, the IIHS graded the headlights on the Silverado and gave them a "Poor" rating. Everything else on the truck was marked as "Good" or "Acceptable."
The IIHS also marked the child safety seating arrangements as "Marginal." However, they were not noted as being hard to find or unreliable in any way. They simply provided LATCH in two locations and only a safety seat tether in the middle seat. So, if you are traveling with three children needing safety seats, this may be something to keep in mind.
Overall, the Silverado is a relatively safe vehicle to drive. Not to mention, there are a number of features, such as the backup camera and airbag systems that make it even more reliable.

As far as pickup trucks go, the 2017 Silverado 1500 has a lot to offer in terms of technology. In fact, it is one of the things that really sets it apart. Most of its competitors hadn't yet introduced many of the in-vehicle bells and whistles that Chevy equipped the Silverado with. It was truly designed for convenience and connectivity.
First, the truck comes with a seven-inch touchscreen radio and an 8-inch screen is available in some of the higher trim models. The infotainment system offers navigation services that are quick in response time. It also has a voice recognition system, which can be controlled through the driver's phone. You can also access the AppShop through the touchscreen. This allows you to browse and install apps, such as Pandora, iHeartRadio, and The Weather Channel, through the truck's radio system.
The radio system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. So, no matter what kind of device you carry, you can link it to your Silverado. This will allow you to use the touchscreen in the car to utilize certain applications, such as the phone, music, navigation, and more. Each Silverado also comes with OnStar, but you must activate it to use it. Plans can be purchased separately but, if purchased from a dealer, you usually get a six-month free trial.
LS and up models of the Silverado also come with a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. The hotspot will support up to seven mobile devices and allows the driver and passengers to stay connected on the go. Typically, the hotspot comes with a three-month or three-gigabyte trial. After that, you will need to pay for a hotspot subscription.
Another tech feature that comes standard on all trim levels is "Teen Driver Mode." This feature allows you to activate vehicle settings that encourage safe driving. It will limit certain features and prevent safety systems from being turned off. Given the consumer reviews above and the limited issues, the rating seems fair. The truck costs an average of $799 in annual repair costs, according to Repair Pal. However, the most expensive repairs can cost more than $1,500.
Repair Pal rated the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 at 3.5 out of five stars, and fifth out of 17 for the year's best full-size trucks. While repair costs may be higher than some of its competitors, major issues appear to be less common.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado: Known Issues & Safety Recalls
Chevrolet has announced six recalls on the 2017 Silverado 1500 in the four years it has been on the road. Recalls for this model actually began in 2016. General Motors recalled the 2016-2017 Silverado 1500, along with various other GM vehicles, because the upper control arms may not have been welded properly. This issue can compromise steering, potentially leading to a crash.
Another notable recall was made in July 2017 regarding the truck's airbags which reportedly may not deploy. Because certain components were not working properly, it could increase the risk of serious injury or death in the event of an accident.
The Chevy Silverado 1500 was part of another large recall in September 2019 that involved nearly 3.5 million GM vehicles. According to the report, an issue with the vacuum pump may decrease power brake assist. This increases the time it takes to slow down and could potentially cause a crash.
Because the 2017 model is outside of the Chevy three-year warranty timeframe, you will have to rely on the powertrain warranty. Not every used vehicle will come equipped with the five-year/60,000-mile powertrain promise though, so be wary of these issues.

2017 Ram 1500 Lacks Tech/Safety Features of Silverado but Costs Less

As with the Ford, the Silverado does offer more towing capacity than the Ram 1500. So, if you are going to be using the truck to haul things or drag a trailer, this is something to keep in mind. The Silverado also still offers more technology features as well. Anyone wanting the perks of on-the-go WiFi and other luxuries, such as several inches of additional cargo space, might prefer the Silverado in comparison.
All those bells and whistles come at a price though. You will likely be able to find a 2017 Ram for a bit cheaper than you will find a Silverado of the same year. If you are on a strict budget, this is something to consider.

The Silverado offers 22 mpg on the highway, while the best the Tundra can provide is 18. From a technology standpoint, both trucks have more to offer than some of the other competitors on this list. Last on the lineup of competitors is the Nissan Titan. These two trucks are most comparable in price when you put them next to one another. Despite them being close in price, the Silverado outpaces the Titan in a number of ways.
There is no surprise when we inform you that the Chevy has a higher towing capacity of 12,500. Up against the Titan's meager 9,390-lb towing capacity, there is no real competition between the two. The Silverado also offers more power because the Titan is only available in a 5.6L V8, which generates 390 hp and 394 lb.-ft. of torque. It also gets lower fuel economy. Nissan's Titan only gets 15 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.
On top of that, Chevy has a lot more options for car buyers to choose from. The Titan has a very limited number of options. Six recalls have been issued on the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 series as of 2021. The first recall was issued in April of 2016 and it affected the upper control arms on 3,738 trucks. This was for inadequate welds which may lead to the control arms breaking which could result in a crash. Chevrolet will replace the control arms free of charge to solve the problem on the trucks.
The next recalls were in September of 2016 and July of 2017 and they are both for the front airbags. GM issued this recall on over 3.6 million vehicles and will update the software to solve the problem with the airbags failing to deploy. The next recall was in August of 2017 and was a relatively minor one affecting only 29,647 trucks. This was for a missing label on the truck for the child anchor seats and Chevrolet will install the correct label.
The next recall was in September of 2019 and affected 3.4 million vehicles. This was for the vacuum pump system failing which can reduce the power brake assist system. Chevrolet will replace the electronic brake control module free of charge. The final recall was in October of 2019 and affected 652,967 vehicles. This was for a software problem that could cause the brakes to engage, GM will update the software on the trucks to prevent this from happening.
How long will a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 last?
A 2017 Chevrolet Silverado should have no problem lasting over 300,000 miles as long as it is well cared for, there are also plenty of previous-generation Silverado 1500 series trucks that have gone over 350,000 miles. Chevrolet builds these trucks to last a long time since they are designed to be used daily for work and have extra stresses put on them since they are designed to haul and tow.
If you want your 1500 series to last a long time then the best thing you can do is take care of it. 2017 Silverado ltz, wonderful for even a family.
The biggest flaw for me (as it is a family vehicle) is the middle back seat is not wide enough to fit a infant car seat without it hanging off unsafely. Aside from that, the backseat is very room for travel, the heated seats can get warmer than I can handle, and the controls are easy to utilize. The radio buttons behind the steering wheel is a wonderful bonus so my hands do not leave to wheel to change songs and adjust volume.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT crew cab.
This truck is a good truck for the trim level. I wish I had the funds to get the high country trim level so that I had more options to select from. The truck has great power with the 5.3 liter v-8 and rides reasonably well. I get around 22 mpg on the highway but I also drive with my cruise control set at 2 miles above whatever the speed limit is. All in all it's a well built reliable vehicle that I would take anywhere.

Fuel filler issues for the 2017 Silverado.
I have not had any serious problems with this truck. The one thing that did happen and I had to pay to get fixed was the cover over the gas filling tube lost it is spring and I had to have it replaced. I wish there were a regular gas cap available for this vehicle. It cost me over 200 dollars to get it replace. The dealer told me that the new ones have been adjusted so they do not go bad as easily as the one did.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is fun to drive.
Fun truck to drive. Excellent handling and reliability. Although it the work truck package, it has all the extras that I need. The inside is spacious, but the back seat is on the smaller side. Great for kids, but not for adults. I have not had any issues with the vehicle itself. Great truck for getting around in the snow. Would like to have remote start, but overall very pleased with the 2017 Silverado.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado z71 lt.
I have had problems with the radio, Apple play does not work correctly when being connected to a iPhone. It will come and go at times and often does not register with the phone when the iPhone is plugged into the USB port. The vehicle also tends to shift hard at times while driving. Sometime when coming to a stop the vehicle downshifts very hard giving question to the computerized transmission.

I love my 2017 Chevy Silverado.
I have not had any problems from my vehicle. It has been very dependable and gets very good gas mileage compared to other people that I know who own full-size trucks.. I have used it to pull a large camper and a trailer with a full size tractor and backhoe attachment up and down the mountain with no problems. And we also use it to travel on vacation and everyday commuting.

My vehicle is a 2017 Chevy Silverado.
I love my truck. So far it has been reliable on a daily basis. I really enjoy the features such as Sirius XM radio, Bluetooth connectivity and touch screen access. The gas mileage is okay for a truck but not great. The truck is roomy and the cab is large and spacious. My only complaint would be no a/c vents in the back for passengers riding with me.

Great driving truck, smooth ride with excellent comfort. The 6.2 liter engine gets very good mileage, better than my 5.3. Back seat have plenty of room for adults. Taken the truck on many long trips and never had any issues, never had to worry about getting sore as the seats are very comfortable. Probably the best truck I have ever driven!

Great truck!! Smooth ride and handles great. The only bad thing in my opinion is the GPS on screen feature. There is no built in GPS so you have to plug in your smartphone to access google maps.. You cannot use Bluetooth, so it has to be corded. Other than that it has everything I ever wanted in a truck.

Most comfortable pickup I have ever driven. Good quality in and out. We haul a 34 foot camper with it and it pulls great also gets great gas mileage as the engine drops to 4 cylinders when cruising down the highway. Body paint is tough and the bed came with a blown in covering that protects it.

2017 high country Chevrolet Silverado is a great beautiful truck. Fell in love with it. Runs great and quiet on highway. Leather seats are comfortable and have heating and cooling as well as steering wheel. Backup camera, GPS system, sensors all features are nice. Overall a great truck.

My 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck has always been a good truck to me the only thing that I have had to replace was a fuel pump out of course regular maintenance. I also have had to buy new tires after a couple years and that is about it. Also check fluids all the time.

2017 Silverado great family truck.
I have enjoyed my Silverado so far, drives smooth, good gas mileage for a truck this size. It is had a few recalls but they're covered under warranty so it is not a huge deal. It is spacious for a family to use, the seats fold up in back so I use that space as a 'trunk'.

Vert comfortable vehicle on long drives. It is very roomy and the seats are comfortable. The controls are simple to use and easy to locate. I enjoy the back up camera. The overall styling of this truck is pleasing to me. Gas mileage is great in both city and highway.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
I love my 2017 Chevrolet Silverado. It has a very smooth ride and the inside is very comfortable and roomy. It handles and performs well in all conditions. I have had no trouble out of it. I would highly recommend them to someone in the market for a full-size truck.

2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 Truck

2017 Chevrolet Silverado redline edition.
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 redline edition is great for off-roading, the redline edition has many perks like the rims have a special red stripe on them. Has a blacked out front end. Has remote start which is very useful in the winter time and in the summertime.

2017 deep ocean blue is absolutely gorgeous.
The only issue we had so far was something was loose but was taken care. Love the deep ocean blue color but the paint does have some issues of chipping. So far no recalls has been sent to us, no other issues. Not a great gas saver but we didn't buy it for that.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado z71 is an awesome truck.
I have the z71 package. It rides really well. It is the smoothest riding truck I have ever owned. Gas mileage is great even for a four wheel drive. The leather interior is extremely nice. My truck has the 5.3 liter engine and it has plenty of towing power.

2017 Chevy Silverado has been a great purchase. Several useful functions.
The vehicle has been extremely reliable and I have owned it for about 2 years. The standard cab is comfortable and plenty spacious for the amount of people I drive. The back up camera has been very helpful. Chevy CarPlay is also a feature that I use daily.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT blue
Drives great, gas mileage is great, interior is great wish it had sunroof. Sometime the stereo screen will go blank and I will have to reset the battery which is annoying and shouldn't be happening on a 2017. Backup camera is nice but could be more clear.

2017 Silverado 5.3 LT Crew Cab short box
I have not had any issues with this vehicle. The performance and comfort has definitely improved over my 2010 model. The gas mileage has also seemed to have improved. I would highly recommend this vehicle, to anyone that was looking to purchase a pickup.

The most important thing about my 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is that it is comfortable and has plenty of towing power for our camper.
I love the style of my truck. It is sleek and modern yet is a workhorse. The interior is extremely comfortable. The touch screen center console is my favorite part of the inside.

Fuel filler issues for the 2017 Silverado.
I have not had any serious problems with this truck. The one thing that did happen and I had to pay to get fixed was the cover over the gas filling tube lost it is spring and I had to have it replaced. I wish there were a regular gas cap available for this vehicle. It cost me over 200 dollars to get it replace. The dealer told me that the new ones have been adjusted so they do not go bad as easily as the one did.

No bad, it saving me money doing this.
My warranty does not meet my current expectations. Because of this, I had my CVT transmission replaced since something happened in the road the other day. It took about three months for my vehicle to get replaced. I have had a lot of problems with this vehicle.

Best truck in the world!!
This vehicle has a v8 under the hood with a lot of power! The seats are very comfortable and adjustable. The screen on the radio is touch or dial activated and is big enough to see clearly. Temperature controls can be adjusted for each side or sync. Very roomy and comfortable on the inside.

For a truck the gas mileage has been great. Towing package was included. The cab is roomy enough that the family (4 of us) were able to drive from Michigan to Florida and be comfortable. OnStar delivers stats about the vehicle on a monthly basis allowing me to effectively monitor and be proactive should issues arise.

My truck is reliable, looks great, and comfortable. It is roomy and strong enough to tow whatever I want to. It has a little slow changing in the transmission when going from rev. To forward. Overall it is good. Like the tailgate lock and hydraulic lowering.

It is a great truck with minor problems that are easily overcome.
Has trouble with the engine when the cab is fully seated. The engine light comes on and it loses power. Almost like it cannot pull the weight of the people inside. It resolves itself when the cab is lighter. The tires are also not easily changed. You cannot just pull off the tire after undoing the lugs.

I like the vinyl floors, I love the cab layout.
I have just under 60,000 miles on my truck. No mechanical issues. I take it in regularly for general maintenance and oil changes. On my second set of tires. I have added remote start with 12 volt solutions, love it. My next step is to add a backup camera with infotainments core swap program. Plan on keeping this truck for a while.

I love my Chevy Silverado pickup.
I love my 2017 Chevy Silverado. I have not had any problems from my vehicle. It has been very dependable and gets very good gas mileage compared to other people that I know who own full-size trucks.. I have used it to pull a large camper and a trailer with a full size tractor and backhoe attachment up and down the mountain with no problems. And we also use it to travel on vacation and everyday commuting.

Quality feels cheap compared to other brands.
A lot of the truck looks and feels cheap. It drives like its low quality compared to a f-150 I once owned. It feels like a dodge ram I had back in 2006. Should have got a ford f-150 or even a GMC sierra if it felt like it was better quality than my 1500.

This is one of, if not the, smoothest riding vehicle I think I have ever ridden in. My truck has customized seats, and I forgot what kind they were, but that made it even better. The comfort is unbelievable, and I do not have any problems with the truck.

It drives very smooth. I like the body style of this truck. I wish the back seat was bigger it is not roomy enough for adults. Battery failed after 2 years. Wheel sensor needed to be replaced after a year. Sometimes there is electrical issues with the radio.

Smooth ride, very reliable in the snow and ice. I don't think I'll go back to a car again! I have not had any problems in the past three years of owning the truck. I have maintained the maintenance required, ie oil changes and clean filters and it has ran smoothly. Truly the best truck I have owned. The technology is easy to use and super helpful.

Love it is very dependable and gets fantastic gas mileage. I drive from work and home twice a day and I can not have. To worry about if I will have issues getting to work. I can use it for large loads and pull a large trailer if needed for personal and work projects.

The smooth and sleek Chevy Silverado.
I have driven the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab ls for 3 years and have not had any issues. It drives very smooth and the cab is very comfortable when traveling with a small group of friends. It does not feel too large to drive, but still big enough to feel safe when on the roads.

Backup camera is so useful. A lot of room in the backseat.
It is very comfortable in the back seat, it has a lot of room. I absolutely love the gas mileage it gets. I haven't had any problems with this truck at all. Zero complaints. It is very reliable, love the backup camera and traction control, which are very safe features.

The truck is reliable, durable, roomy and comfortable. It is good on gas and have drove it on the highway taking long trips. We have no major performance problems at all. The vehicle is very safe and functional. I recommend the Chevy trucks for future purchases. I love the three seats in the front and three seats in the back.

2017 Silverado ltz, wonderful for even a family.
The biggest flaw for me (as it is a family vehicle) is the middle back seat is not wide enough to fit a infant car seat without it hanging off unsafely. Aside from that, the backseat is very room for travel, the heated seats can get warmer than I can handle, and the controls are easy to utilize. The radio buttons behind the steering wheel is a wonderful bonus so my hands do not leave to wheel to change songs and adjust volume.
